Explaining freelance, permanent and voluntary work

Freelance

A freelance job is when you’re self-employed and you’re not connected to a company, being a freelancer means you don’t have a boss to give you instructions therefore you have more space to make decisions yourself and you might also be able to do projects at the comfort of your own home. In addition working freelance gets you a better pay because freelancer can negotiate there wage with companies that hire them because the companies won’t have to pay you for sick pay. However there are a few disadvantages when working freelance for example getting work can be rather hard at times because there are many other freelancers out there looking for jobs and they might have more experience than you or might be more known to companies than you, also managing your money might be a problem because you will have to pay taxes and national insurance arrangements that employers would normally sort for you.

Permanent

Permanent jobs are working for an employer or a company and the advantages are that you will always be paid even if you’re sick and the company you work with pays your working tax. Also another advantage that when you are ill or you are on holiday you still get paid unlike freelance there is nobody to pay you if you’re ill so you get no money on that day or the period you weren’t working.

 Voluntary

Volunteering jobs are jobs which you apply for on your own will which means you won’t get paid at all. Although you won’t be getting paid it’s good to voluntary work because you gain experience and get your name known.
